Defending Women’s Health
I’ll always support a woman’s right to choose. This starts by codifying Roe v. Wade with federal legislation to ensure a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions is the law of the land. With a 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court, reproductive health care is under threat like never before, and we must take action to ensure protections are in place in case that settled precedent is overturned.

Equally important is protecting funding for health care clinics like Planned Parenthood, preserving access to critical health care services, and ensuring all women have access to affordable contraception. I’ll fight back against GOP attempts to restrict a woman’s right to choose and make her own health decisions.
Protecting women’s health doesn’t end there. Domestic violence and sexual assault is an unimaginable horror, yet devastating reality for far too many in our country. Unfortunately, there are still far too many who don’t believe, or worse, blame the survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, instead of offering support and swift prosecution of the abusers. As a community, we must do everything we can to stand and support survivors and families during these unimaginable traumas. That means fixing our institutions to better respond to instances of sexual assault and support survivors as well as ensuring clear parameters and procedures are in place to investigate and deal with instances. Reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, without watering it down with partisan politics, is essential.
Proposals:
- Pass the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act
- Codify Roe V Wade to ensure it is the law of the land and protect every woman’s right to make her own health care decisions
- Fully fund red-flag laws
